Last Update: August 23, 2024

Pina Coladas are the pinnacle of summer—by blending together the sweet tang of your favorite frozen fruits, creamy coconut milk, and rum, you’re crafting the perfect cool-down cocktail. But this summer, we’re giving the traditional pina colada recipe two superfood twists. Try a Dragon Fruit & Turmeric or Sweet Spirulina Pina Colada at your next indoor BBQ.

Swirled Frozen Dragon Fruit and Turmeric Pina Colada

Dragon fruit is loaded with fiber and great for gut health. Turmeric is naturally anti-inflammatory and high in antioxidants. Dragon fruit and turmeric together? A delicious combination of sweetness and spice that’s packed with health benefits. This pina colada recipe is dairy-free, vegan, and comes together in less than five minutes.

Yield: 2 servings
Active Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes

2 cups frozen pineapple
6 tablespoons Thrive Market Coconut Milk
1 cup cold Thrive Market Coconut Water
1 lime
1 cup crushed ice
â…” cup (or 6 ounces) light rum
2 tablespoons Pitaya Plus Organic Freeze Dried Red Dragon Fruit Powder
1 to 2 teaspoons Thrive Market Ground Turmeric

Spirulina is blue-green algae that may help remove toxins from the body and boost overall immunity. If you’ve tried spirulina before, you may be hesitant to put it in a cocktail. But the slightly savory flavor, when paired with the sweet notes of rum and pineapple, is surprisingly delicious. This recipe is also dairy-free, vegan, and can be whipped up in less than 5 minutes.
