Sugar is an ingredient in approximately 80 percent of processed foods on grocery store shelves.

And that doesn’t mean that 80 percent of processed foods are cookies or candy, either. Many foods advertised as “low fat” use added sugars to make up for the flavor lost when the fat was removed. That ought to make you think twice about picking up that fat-free Ranch dressing.
