Your Next Snack, Made Easy With Love Good Fats

Last Update: August 18, 2023

If there’s one woman who can attest to the benefits of fat in your diet, it’s Suzie Yorke. As the CEO and founder of Love Good Fats, Yorke is an 11-time Ironman athlete, mom of two kids, and lover of healthy fats.

In this interview, she shares how important diversity and inclusivity are in the workplace, and how her team at Love Good Fats is revolutionizing the snack bar category.

When you reflect on your business, what are you most proud of?

My biggest accomplishment to date is being able to successfully launch into the U.S. market in January 2019 at 463 locations. Just two years ago, I was creating our bar recipe in my kitchen. Since then, we’ve gone from two bars to 10, and entered the beverage category. While the journey hasn’t always been easy, I’ve been very grateful to have such a strong, diverse, and inclusive team behind me that has contributed to the brand’s success. Fast-forward one year later, and we’re now available in over 10,000 stores and 40,000 points of distribution.

Which product would you recommend to people who are unfamiliar with your brand (and why?)

Our “ridiculously delicious” bars are what we are best known for. Our core line of eight bars have a unique truffle-like texture that melts in your mouth. We offer a variety of options for every flavor profile—from Chocolate Peanut Butter and Mint Chocolate Chip, to more indulgent flavors such as Lemon Mousse and Cookies & Cream. Our Chewy Nutty bars are also a great option for those who are plant-based.

How do you unwind after a tough day?

I love going for a long run. I’m an 11-time Ironman athlete, and long-distance running has always helped me clear my head and unwind. I live close to Lake Ontario and love to run along the edge of the Great Lakes—it’s a beautiful view!

Describe a favorite self-care or wellness ritual that helps you feel your best.

I’m a firm believer in self-care, and I’m a self-proclaimed yogi. I’ll usually attend hot yoga classes at my local studio in Toronto, but if I’m traveling for work, I’ll try to sneak a class in my busy schedule. Hot yoga does wonders for me physically and mentally, and is a great stress reliever.

What advice would you give your younger self?

My biggest piece of advice for my younger self is to be brave and don’t be afraid to take a chance. Sometimes you will fail, but if you have perseverance and drive to succeed, then the possibilities are limitless.

What social, political, or environmental issue are you most passionate about?

As a lesbian and female business owner, I take pride in building a company that lives and breathes inclusion and diversity and celebrates bravery and courage. At Love Good Fats, we support authenticity, diversity, and the celebration of love. They’re the core pillars of our company. Our team is comprised of 50% women, 15% LGBTQ+, and 27% first-/second-generation immigrants, and I believe each team member brings unique talents and perspectives.
