The U.S. Department of Health recommends that whole grains make up half of your total intake of grains, but have found “average intakes of whole grains are far below recommended levels across all age-sex groups, and average intakes of refined grains are well above recommended limits for most age-sex groups.” That means instead of noshing on oatmeal, whole-grain pasta, and brown rice, Americans are devouring white bread, bagels, and pizza crust with a lot more gusto. Among Friends is hoping to help shift the paradigm with its whole grain mixes and flours that are easy to bake and offer some of the nutrients you need as part of a healthy diet.
The History of Among Friends
This brand was founded by two women who knew that most baking mixes didn’t have the same flavor as made-from-scratch recipes and vowed to make things different, and in a healthy way! Fast forward a few years and you'll see that the brand was purchased by HB Specialty Foods and Among Friends was (re)-born to help directly support the regenerative, organic, non-gmo, and biodynamic growers they work with.
Among Friends Company Mission
To promote a faster adoption of regenerative agriculture by supporting the growers that practice it by mobilizing farm to table ingredients to eaters.

Organic Regenerative Whole Wheat Flour
The entire wheat kernel is used to make Among Friends’ whole wheat flour. That means the germ, bran, and endosperm all make an appearance (and add a boost of fiber).
Organic Regenerative Cane Sugar
This sweet ingredient is made from unrefined sugar sourced from freshly squeezed, regeneratively farmed cane juice. It’s so fresh, the cane juice evaporates and crystalizes the same day it’s harvested!
