About This Brand

Sophie's Kitchen

It’s not a paradox – Sophie’s Kitchen is a revolution in ready-to-eat, vegan / vegetarian plant-based food products! The current dependence on dwindling foods from the sea concerns us! We’ve taken Elephant Yam Root (Konjac, Amorphophallus konjac, pronounced Koun-jaek), that has been used across Asia for centuries, as the base for our products. The Japanese have traditionally used Konjac as a health food with a high source of fiber, and contains very few calories. We use traditional land and sea plants (such as highly nutritious seaweed) as the

I can't eat too much of this because it's so oily but I do love putting them on crackers (after I drain the oil!)

Too oily and gummy for my liking. It was okay in tuna helper but I could not imagine it in anything else.

I thought this was pretty tasty and the texture was great! I recommend putting in the fridge a few hours before eating so it’s chilled. No it doesn’t exactly replicate the fishy taste of tuna BUT it is a close alternative and you can add whatever fixings you want to dress it up. Will buy again for sure!

Sorry, found it barely edible. Looked more like wet cat food than tuna. And did not taste fishy to me. Threw most of it out.

Better than expected

Posted   by Raquel from BOULDER, Colorado
Based on reviews I expected this Toona to be bad but with chopped onion, carrot, and some veganaise it is an impressive alternative. It does kind of look like pet food but I'm not going to hold that against it seeing as it is a shelf-stable source of protein. I did not find it to be grainy. Don't skip the onion; it really elevates it!
